This logo design is an attempt to merge what both of you are thinking while still keeping with the clean modern lines of the original logo. The logo has no background, but is shown against a white background to demonstrate appearance against white. The colors you have chosen work well together. I've added PMS designations to prevent the green from darkening when it goes to a printer and to provide a seamless integration of color from computer to print to signage.
